We’re Heading to New York, New York!

New York Fashion Week

We’re thrilled and overjoyed to be announcing our hop, skip and a jump across the pond to America’s fashion capital, New York – fabulous Madison Avenue to be specific! This bustling city of fine art, culture and fashion is now home to our very first Brora shop in the United States, ready and open for business from early November.

For two years Victoria and her heads of retail have taken numerous trips back and forth, searching for the perfect location that has the necessary surroundings, yet more importantly, missing Brora’s distinctively luxurious, British presence! Central Park is only a few blocks away, the Guggenheim is a stone’s throw from us and upscale Sarabeth’s; a trendy restaurant that’s a small slice of home, serving homemade jams and savoury goods, ideal for a quick, light brunch.

New York winters are a regular mix of harsh, cutting ice and snow with plummeting, sub-zero temperatures and mini hurricane winds! All integral components for our sumptuously snug cashmere knitwear and accessories; wouldn’t you agree?

Poncho Going Back to Sweden!

Burberry Prorsum Show at London Fashion Week.

Ponchos and blanket wraps were draped up and down the fashion catwalks for AW14; London, Paris, Milan, Tokyo, all sashaying in luxurious fabrics, making such a remarkable statement. Burberry Prorsum exhibited a fantastic display with their woollen army of stylishly blanketed ladies. Like our lambswool blankets, these colour-blocked, equestrian blankets are made in Scotland, reinforcing their wonderfully British aesthetic.

The Edinburgh shop dressed in new Early Autumn stock.

I love swinging by Edinburgh whenever I can, not just for the colourful patrons and my dedicated work staff in our local Brora shop, but for the dynamic culture this capital city has to offer! I regularly travel north to Scotland to our mills in Hawick and Elgin, often via the family home in Cumbria, however this time I’ve been lucky enough to catch goings on of The Edinburgh Fringe Festival; an incredible three week celebration of the arts and entertainment.

Magnifique! Getting into the spirit of things, Harrogate have put their knitting skills to the test with their very own cashmere bicycle in celebration of next month’s Tour de France race, starting at Leeds through to Harrogate. Tres bien! :)
